Uniball has a 135-year history of being a global leader in the delivery of writing and art product solutions.

Looking back at their legacy of reliable writing materials, we needed to move the Uni-ball brand forward to feel approachable for people of all ages, hobbies, and professions.

Rather than making Uni-ball feel overtly ‘digital,’ we aimed to shift the focus to the people who use the products in their everyday lives — creating a fresh brand voice that resonates with modern audiences while honoring the Uni-ball heritage..

A Platform Wide Rethinking Of The Brand

Solution

The result was a shorter, more universal name paired with a confident and relatable identity: “Start your story.” Equal parts motivating, inclusive, and personal, this tagline prioritizes the individual — the writer, the artist, the creator — whatever the story may be.

Our stories and ideas are why we write and create. We positioned the brand as a facilitator, recognizing that sometimes, we need pens to simply jot down digital ideas.

The brand refresh focused on establishing a contemporary voice that fosters social engagement, creative collaborations, and greater brand awareness.

As Design Director, I led the rebrand from start to finish, working closely with our talented team of creatives, designers, and animators over the course of six months. This work was brought to life through the exceptional contributions of:
